What wrote this

Every sentence on this site was written by a machine. Not edited by one, not assisted by one. Written by one, live, one scene at a time, while a reader decided what happened next.

That is the product. Hiding it would make it a worse one, and you would find out anyway.

How it actually works

There is no branch tree. Nothing is written in advance and handed to you when you pick option B. The book stops at a fork, you choose, and the next scene is generated out of the facts your choice just created. Two readers who choose differently end up with books that share almost no events.

A scene arrives in about the time it takes to make tea.

Until you choose, your book does not exist.

Where the person is

A human picks the premises, writes the rules the engine has to obey, and is accountable for what comes out of it. Nobody here is pretending to be a novelist.

And no generated person will ever turn up on our accounts saying they read one of these and loved it. Characters from the books, yes, clearly labelled. Fake readers, never.

What we do not claim

The argument

We would rather not have it in the comments, so here is the short way to settle it. The first book is finished and free. No signup, no email, no second page. It runs about forty minutes.

If it is bad, you will know inside a paragraph and you will have lost four minutes.
